You know that song by Amy Winehouse sounds funny, but for a lot of people it's reality. At one point she says she can't find happiness at the bottom of a shot glass. She wrote that song based on her family recommending rehab for alcoholism. She didn't go because she didn't believe she had a problem.
Like I said, it's funny in a song but not a funny reality. I have a coworker who has been off work for over a month because of her addiction to meth. She's not even 21 yet. It's really sad because she's such a pretty girl and the drugs are doing so much damage to her face and body.
She's one of those people who loves to be in love. When her boyfriend moved here from another state, she was in heaven. They started smoking pot, drinking and moved up to the harder stuff fairly quickly. One day, she came to work and everything seemed fine. When she got home, he had moved out. Got a moving van and just left. That's when she went off of the deep end. She just got worse and worse.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming him at all. She's a big girl and can make her own decisions. She just does not make good decisions at all. She started getting high during work hours. She would leave for lunch and come back high.
Eventually her parents noticed her behavior and found a rehab for her. A site like 1800nodrugs is totally free. They don't even charge a referral fee. If you decided right now to check them and their services out, you could because they're available 24/7. They'll help you find a long term or short term drug rehab program depending on your needs.
My friend definitely needs a long term program. A short term program wouldn't do her any good because she'll be back around those negative influences too soon. With a long term program, maybe she'll see the error of her ways and decide to change.
I really hope she gets the help she needs. It's really sad to see someone strung out and know that there's nothing you can do.
