At first I just deleted the spam comments. Then I started marking them as spam. Now I just delete them again. Why? Because marking them as spam could ban the offenders ip address from visiting my site.
Why would I want a spammer to visit my site? The main reason is because I don't get a lot of traffic. Each hit counts towards my traffic ranking and my alexa rankings. If they get banned, that's less traffic. Secondly, maybe one of the spammers will actually have something to say that I might want to read. But it's really all about the traffic.
It's not a lot. Maybe 3 or 4 comments per day. I'll deal with it for now. If it ever gets up to 20 or 30, then yeah, I'll mark them appropriately.
