The party pod sucks!

Every holiday weekend the local radio station (96.1 Kiss FM) does what they call party pod. They take requests that you email or text into the station and play those songs. You can request anything. Sounds good right? Not really.

The songs are all mixed up so you can't get into any kind of groove. First it might be a new song, then a 70's song, then a 80's song, or maybe another new song. All weekend long.

I guess it's good that the normal deejays get some time off, but I hate party pod weekends.

The preseason is finally over!

Finally. 5 preseason games is ludicrous. The preseason seemed to last forever. The Steelers went 4-1. They won today 19-3. Now bring on the regular season and the Cleveland Browns on September 9!

Using other women writers as my inspiration

I talk about my short stories that I'm writing. I look to other writers to get my inspiration. I read what they've had to overcome in writing their stories, where they get their ideas from, or how the get over writers block. Vickie Milazzo has written a book called Inside Every Woman where she talks about using the 10 strengths you didn't know you had to get the career and life you want now.

When you visit the site, you can also read a free chapter. I always like to read stuff from people like Vickie, she into self-improvement and living up to your potential. She's also a Wall Street Journal best seller and her book is on its 5th reprint. Now that's the kind of success I'm hoping for.

Joke of the week

You Know You're Living in 2007 When...

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.

I'm still sick

I've been sick for almost 2 weeks now. This is getting ridiculous. I've felt worse the past 2 days than any other time since I've come back from vacation. I missed work yesterday and today. These are unpaid days because I used all of my sick time in the beginning of the year.

Lesson learned: Don't use sick days for b.s. reasons in the first 6 months of the year. If you really do get sick, you won't have any days left.

Spam is outta control

I think I spoke too soon. I know I said I wanted more comments but I didn't expect this. My spam comments on one of my blogs is out of control. I used to get less than 5 comments per day. Lately I've been getting 15 or more comments per day. Yesterday and today I had over 25 comments each day.

I guess I should be careful what I wish for.

A new blog directory

I need to get my blog out in front of more eyeballs. The more visibility the better. I mean how can you get clicks if no one sees your blog? I've found a new blog directory to submit my blogs to.

There's a comprehensive list of blog categories to choose from, so your site should fit right it. There are feature listings or permanent listings available. There are also links to other web directories on the site as well.

Go check it out, and see if it's something you would be interested in. You know you want to get your blog out there.

Google and PR

I'm beginning to hate Google. They know it's time for a pr update (pr=page rank). It's been closer to 4 months than the usual 3. They're killing me.

I have multiple blogs. I hope this blog and my other blogger blog stay the same pr. I need my two blogs on their own domain to rise. I need one to go higher and I need the other one to get ranked. It's brand new so it doesn't have any rank yet.

I think the Google staff enjoys toying with bloggers. They know we have our eyes on page rank updates and they're just sitting back giggling at us. C'mon guys, update please.

I guess I should be careful of what I wish for, my rankings could go down.

Where did the summer go?

I can't believe the summer is almost over. School starts tomorrow. Not only for college students but high school students as well.

I guess there is one perk to the upcoming winter weather. Winter sports of course. Football in particular. One of my coworkers is trying to convince me to try riding a Snowmobile. His family has a cabin and a lot of acreage. He goes up to the cabin with his brother and a few of their friends.

I told him I wasn't so sure. I don't know anything about snowmobiling. I can read up on it at a snowmobile forum. Heh, I'm still not convinced. Luckily, my friend and his family are patient. Which is good, because I think I'm definitely gonna work their nerves.

I missed the entire 1st quarter

I thought the Steelers game came on at 9pm. Nope, it started at 8pm so I missed the entire 1st quarter. The score is Eagles 3 Steelers 0, so I haven't missed much in the way of offense so far.

Edited to add the Steelers won 27-13.

Short story update - sort of

I haven't written in the past 3 weeks. Nothing. Nada. I have writers block. I have some ideas for 2 of the stories that I'm writing, but once I write it down, it's garbage. I don't expect everything to be genius, but I recognize trash when I see it and especially when I write it.

School starts tomorrow so I don't expect to really write anything for the next couple of weeks. I need to get back on my game though.

I got you hypnotized

Have you ever wanted to learn hypnosis? I have. Not for evil purposes (although the thought had crossed my mind), but for personal reasons. People use hypnosis all of the time to help make positive changes in their life.

What types of positive changes? Well the biggest change people usually want to make is to stop smoking. Other changes could be to eat less, exercise more, or one that I need to stop procrastinating.

Real hypnosis like what you find at http://www.hypnosiscoach.com, will help you learn the real deal. Not that fake parlor craft that you see at side shows and carnivals. Hypnosis is real and powerful, it can change your life. All it takes is a willingness to learn and a open mind.

What you should do if you get pulled over

Here's an article from aol autos with 5 things to do if you ever get pulled over.

Hopefully, you won't act like the lady in the article.

I'm gonna party like it's my birthday!

Because it is! Happy birthday to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The poll question is up

You knew it was gonna be sports related right?

Poll question for the ladies

Which professional sport has the hottest athletes?

Question 1 out of 2

Do you answer poll questions?

Have you ever been to a website where it gives you a poll or survey question to answer? Do you answer them? I do, especially if they're sports or entertainment related.

Have you ever wondered where people get the survey questions from? Probably a site like Quibblo.com. You can go there and find fun online quizzes that you can answer or add the badge to your website or blog for your readers to answer.

If you don't like the questions or polls being offered, create your own. I'm creating one right now. Check back in a few minutes for it.

Do your comments show up in a new window?

On my blogger blogs, mine do. I guess I figured you can click on comments, a new box will open up, then you can read and/or make comments on the post then close the window and stay exactly where you are on the page.

I've seen some people who go to a new page. Which way do you prefer?

Join the fight against Alzheimer's

Every year communities all across the country have memory walks to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's research, care and support. The typical walk last 2-3 miles. That is not a long way to walk for a good cause. Here in Pittsburgh the Memory Walk is scheduled for October 6, 2007.

You can sign up just to walk or you can be a team captain. Age knows no bounds for this walk. People of all ages are encouraged to participate. You can even sign up as a corporate team. That makes starting a team easy, just ask a few coworkers and you're good to go.

If you don't want to walk, or something prevents you from walking during the actual event, you can be a volunteer. You can help plan activities to take place before and after the memory walk or help recruit people to walk. Even going to the event and cheering on the walkers.

Need an added incentive? How about the chance to win a weekend trip to Las Vegas. For every $500 you raise you get 1 entry into the contest. There are 2 vacation packages being given away. Both including airfare, hotel rooms, show tickets (Elton John or Toni Braxton) and a $100 gift certificate for food.

So get out and get some exercise and help raise money for a great cause.

Joke of the week

What's the Problem Officer?"

These 16 Police comments were purportedly taken off actual police car videos from around the country:

#16 "You know, stop lights don't come any redder that the one you just went through."

#15 "Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretch after you wear them a while."

#14 "If you take your hands off the car, I'll make your birth certificate a worthless document."

#13 "If you run, you'll only go to jail tired."

#12 "Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? Because that's the speed of the bullet that'll be chasing you."

#11 "You don't know how fast you were going? I guess that means I can write anything I want to on the ticket, huh?"

#10 "Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't think it will help. Oh, did I mention that I'm the shift supervisor?"

#9 "Warning! You want a warning? O.K., I'm warning you not to do that again or I'll give you another ticket."

#8 "The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not. Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?"

#7 "Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you go to ride on rides, eat cotton candy and corn dogs and step in monkey poop."

#6 "Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a toaster oven."

#5 "In God we trust, all others we run through NCIC."

#4 "How big were those, 'Just two beers' you say you had?"

#3 "No sir, we don't have quotas anymore. We used to, but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we can."

#2 "I'm glad to hear that Chief (of Police) Hawker is a personal friend of yours. So you know someone who can post your bail."

#1 "You didn't think we give pretty women tickets? You're right, we don't.

Do you get a lot of spam comments?

On one of my blogs I've started to get multiple spam comments. I just delete them instead of marking them spam though because I notice that a good portion of them are coming from the same ip address. The sites look different but I don't click on any of them to see if they are. Most of them are porn-type sites.

Some of the comments are just people looking to leave a link, I don't mind but the comments are useless. Sometimes it's just multiple links to their site. If they even made a stupid comment like "I agree" I would probably approve the comment.

Oh well, that's just one of the things we deal with when blogging.

Would you get lap-band surgery?

I would consider it if I were considered obese. I know 1 person who has actually had lap-band surgery. Everyone else I know has had a different procedure.

The lap-band procedure is different because they only make a tiny incisions and use special instruments to go in and wrap the inflatable silicone band around the upper part of your stomach. Multiple tiny incisions are better than one gigantic incision that runs the length of your stomach if for no other reason than vanity. You now have a smaller pouch that limits the amount of food that your stomach can hold. With a smaller space you eat less, feel full faster and lose weight.

Surgery isn't for everyone but in the case of morbidly obese people I think it's a good idea.

Of course I fell asleep

And missed the end of the game. I hate those 10:05pm est starts. That means the game won't end until after 1am. Some nights I can stay up, other nights I can't. Last night was one of the nights I couldn't.

Anyway, no sooner had I hit publish than the Angels got 3 runs. I went to sleep in the 10th with the score tied 6-6. The final wound up being 7-6 in favor of the Angels.

I'm kinda glad today's game isn't on tv.

I am so sleepy right now

The Yankees vs the Angels are on and I still have 2 innings to go. Right now the Yanks are leading 4-3 but the Angels are threatening. I just hope I'm up to see the end of the game.

Yippee sports are on!

I get to see a Yankees game tonight. You have no idea how happy that makes me. I was on vacation for 9 days with no television!

Now regular tv I could do without because you can always catch the shows in reruns. I missed Burn Notice the most. I really didn't care too much about the other shows. But I did miss my sports. I didn't get to see any football or baseball games. And I know there were some good games on tv.

Yeah I know I was on vacation and it was time to relax. What better way to relax than kicking back with a cold one (if that's your thing) and watching a game. Excuse me while I get back to my game. I'm in heaven right now!

I missed all of the Phillies games

First I was out of town on Friday. I got home late on Saturday and missed most of the game. Then today, I saw some of the game. I missed the beginning of the game because of the rain delay. The Phillies were leading at the time. Then just before the rain started again, the Pirates took the lead. Then they went into another rain delay so I missed the end of the game.

I wanted to go to today's game but I'm sick so I couldn't go sit out in the rain. Plus, it was very cool today. It was only 65 if not lower. I definitely wasn't going to sit outside in that. I was really hoping for a rain-out so they would have had to reschedule the game but no such luck.

I don't understand how these two teams can be cross-state rivals and only play 2 series per year. Darn schedulers, you suck!

I go a little overboard with Steelers stuff

Are you a football fan? I am. I missed it during the spring and early summer and got into baseball. But now the preseason is here and I'm loving it.

I'm going nuts with Steelers stuff this year. I got a dogtag charm, 2 shirts and I'm looking to buy a beach towel. That doesn't include all of the other stuff that I already have. But the funniest thing I did was paint the garage. I got some garage floor paint and painted a big Steelers logo on the floor.

I live in a apartment but I have to rent a garage because I hate parking on the street. It's only a few extra dollars per month to house my car. I did ask my landlord before I did it and he told me it was cool as long as I paint it back when I move out. Cool.

That's one reason why I can't wait to buy a house. I plan on having one heck of a game room setup. Sports memorabilia, logos, bobble heads. Man, I plan on having the works. Most people are excited about owning the property. I'm more excited about the possibility of game rooms and swimming pools. Priorities, yanno.

Man I have a long break in posts

I was on vacation for over a week. Before that I was so busy getting ready for vacation that I skipped blogging for quite a few days. I didn't even do my usual joke of the week. Now that I'm back from vacation and everything is back to normal, I'll be on a more regular posting schedule.

I don't even have a "regular" schedule. I know some people have a schedule that they follow. I try to write at least 4 times a week. Sometimes more. It just depends on what I have to say that week. This week I'll probably have a lot to say.

My mom is in the money

Why? Because she has something everyone wants. Yup, money. She unexpectedly came into some money that she doesn't know what to do with. Well, of course everyone knows to spend it but that's not what I'm talking about.

She has the choice to get a structured settlement for the money so she can have a lump sum or take it in payments. I've suggested that she look into something like structuredsettlement-quotes.com. It may well be in her best interest to get a lump sum of money instead of stretching the money out. I mean if it were me, I would want my cash up front. Let me invest it the way I want to invest it.

I totally believe that I could find a better interest rate than what they're offering. Besides, if you get a quote and don't like what they have to say, she still gets her monthly payments. Man, would I love to be in her position right now.

The Back Street Boys have a new song

In my previous post, I said that I hated whiny man singers crying the blues about losing their woman. The song "Inconsolable" is by The Back Street Boys. I knew they had broken up but I didn't think they would ever get back together. Especially since they've been apart for so many years.

The weird thing is people are loving this song. They're blowing up the air waves requesting it. Needless to say, I'm not one of those people. I think the song sucks!

What's with these men crying

I've been listening to the radio and a lot of the men are crying. Not literally shedding tears but man are they whining. Oh she left me, she cheated on me, I'm inconsolable.

Geeze, come on guys man up. Hearing a love song is one thing. Listening to a man cry and whine is not cool. No wonder you're alone.

Rob Zombie's Halloween

Now Halloween is scary enough. But a movie written and directed by Rob Zombie. That's scary stuff.

Halloween was probably the first scary movie I had ever seen. It's the only horror film that I could actually watch. I usually only watch comedies. One of my dates took me to the movies to see a Halloween film. He told me that we were going to see something else but when we got in the theater, it was Halloween the movie. I was kinda ticked off until I started actually getting into the film. I was glad he was there for me to grab and hide under. I spent most of the film under his jacket.

This is gonna be a departure from Halloween the movie from the past. In this movie, Rob Zombie will turn back time to look at the childhood of Michael Myers. I like this angle. It gives you a idea into why the person turned out as twisted and psycho as they did. I mean, think of all of the horror films that you have ever seen. Most of them focus on the adult life of the killer. But don't you ever wonder what happened to them as children to make them turn out that way? I don't think most killers just wake up one morning and turn into murdering fiends. There's usually something in their past that triggered the turn to evil.

I made my boyfriend sit with me while I watched the trailer on You Tube. I've included the trailer, check it out and let me know what you think. I think it's scary. If nothing else, this will make a great date movie. Just think, you won't need an excuse to get closer to your date.

Our coach is hot!

Ok I wasn't gonna say anything but uhhhh....Mike Tomlin is a hottie. So not only is he coaching the hottest team in the league, he's the hottest coach in the league!

Steeler haters fall back!

Looking to donate a car?

It can be a hassle to get rid of a car. You have want ads, low appraisals, phone calls all times of the day and night, or the worse - strangers visiting your home. You can eliminate all of that when you make Car Donations through a agency like Car Angel.

They even let you pick which program you would like to support with your donation. You can choose from single mothers, prison reform, homelessness, orphans, and adult or teen rehab. With so many worthwhile programs which would you pick. The choice for me would be easy. I would choose to help the orphaned children. Children with no family need some sense of stability to their lives so I would definitely support a charity that helps them.

If you donate your car they will pick it up, free nationwide. Whether it's running or not. And you can fill out all of the paperwork online. What makes it appealing to a lot of people is that your donation is tax deductible. You can get a deduction for a car, boat, rv, plane or trailer.

Any type of vehicle that you have that you would like to donate is eligible. If you have a vehicle that you're looking to get rid of, consider donating it first. Hey, it doesn't even have to be a running vehicle. Just fill out the online form and get the process started.

It's official - football season has started

I wrote a post on my other blog and in it I said that training camp had started and I wasn't excited yet. Well, that's all out the window.

Hell yeah I'm excited! If I wasn't, watching Big Ben connect with Cedric Wilson for 55 yards sure would have gotten the blood pumping.

I know it's preseason, but Here We Go Steelers Here We Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So did Usher get married or what

Did R&B singer get married in a low key wedding on Friday or not? What I really want to know is this...how old is this woman? When they first started "dating", it was said that Tameka Foster was in her 40's. Now, they're saying she's "only" 37. I said only because that still makes her almost 10 years older than him.

Boy, you shoulda listened to your mama. I give this "marriage" 2 years 3 months. So divorce by Nov 2009. Shotgun, I called it!

I try to keep excess posts in draft

There are days like today when I just don't feel like blogging. Like today. I just don't have much to say. So what do I do to keep fresh posts on my blog? I keep posts either in draft, or as text files in my blog folder. I generally only post once a day so if I keep 2 or 3 posts per blog, I'm good to go.

The one thing I hate about Blogger is when you publish something from your drafts, it gives it the creation date not the publish date. The only way to combat that is to copy and paste into a new post and publish, then delete the one from drafts. More work than is really necessary, but it works.

Uh oh the game is on, gotta go.

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!

This just friggin' figures

A-Rod hit his 500 home run today. He became the youngest player in major league history to do so. Was the game on? NO!!! Some other bs game was on. Meanwhile they've been killing us with Giants games for the last week.

I always miss the good shit.

My short story

This is getting complicated. I was writing one story. Then I got the inspiration for another story so I went with that. Now I have 4 chapters of 1 story and 6 of another. I don't want to try to force either story because they won't be as good as they can be.

One of my coworkers wrote several books. She said she worked on one for over 2 years. I think that's the hardest part for me, the waiting for ideas and inspiration. I want to sit down and just write until I can't write anymore but I know that's not the way it works.

Hopefully, I'll get some writing done this weekend.

Joke of the week

Smart Kid!

A couple of young boys were fishing at their special
pond off the beaten track when out of the bush's jumped
the Game Warden!

Immediately, one of the boys threw his rod down and started
running through the woods, and hot on his heels came the
Game Warden.

After about a half mile the boy stopped and stooped over
with his hands on his thighs to catch his breath and the
Game Warden finally caught up to him.

"Lets see yer fishin' license, Boy!" the Warden gasped.

With that, the boy pulled out his wallet and gave the Game
Warden a valid fishing license.

"Well, son", said the Game Warden, "You must be about as
dumb as a box of rocks! You don't have to run from me if
you have a valid license!"

"Yes Sir", replied the young boy," But my friend back
there, well, he don't have one"...

Here's my number, call me

I sell on ebay. Not as much as I used to but I still sell a lot. It's really surprising that the majority of my international customers are in Germany. When you call make tons of calls internationally, people aren't always comfortable calling you back when they know you're in a foreign country. I call customers to confirm sales or to head off problems at the pass. I sell fairly high ticket items, so people want to put a voice with the screen name before they fork over a lot of money. So to make your customers more comfortable, you can get International Call Forwarding. It works with up to 12 numbers representing countries around the world from Toyko to Brussels.

So when you go need to get in touch with your customers, you can have them call a local number. Not only does it give you an air of professionalism, it makes your customers much more comfortable dealing with you.

This just figures

I've been talking about wanting to go the Phillies games Aug 17-19th. I'll be out of town on the 17th. I come home the 18th but it may be too late to get to the game. So I have the opportunity to go to the game on the 19th.

Well, we had a mini employee appreciation day at work today where they gave away prizes. One of the prizes was for the game on Friday the 17th. My friend won and she got 4 tickets. Argghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

They're pretty good seats too. I think it's a conspiracy to keep me from seeing the Phillies.

Are you Superbad?

There are so many movies that are coming out this summer that look good. The best part is that there are movies in every genre coming out. I want to see action, drama but most of all comedies. I love to laugh and some of the movies look hilarious.

Remember the guys who brought you The 40 Year Old Virgin and Talledega Nights? Well they're back with the movie Superbad. Were as the last 2 movies were centered around adults, this is a teen movie. Oh believe me, they have their adult moments. The 2 main characters are about to graduate high school and go away to college. Before they go they want to have a party and score some alcohol so they can be cool.

First let me say, what teenager doesn't want to be cool? We all wonder what we can do to fit in or at least not make us look like a dork. I had major geek potential in high school. Luckily for me, I had just enough cool friends to keep me from being the ultra nerd. I think that's one of the reasons why I tend to be friends with everyone. I always hated to see kids getting picked on or made fun of.

I think deep down inside we all want to be one of the cool kids. That's the premise of Superbad. What lengths would you go to to be one of the cool kids? And while you're trying to decide how far you would go, check out the Superbad website for ringtones, wall paper, and more importantly, movie clips.
