I labeled this post friends, but that word should be in quotations. I just got a request on a networking site from a old friend. I accepted the request even though I have no idea who this person is. Then they private messaged me and asked how I was doing. They even referenced something personal so I know they know who I am.
The problem is that I have no idea who this person is. The name doesn't even remotely ring a bell. I know her last name could be different (marriage and such) but the first name doesn't sound familiar. She doesn't have a common first name either so I should know who she is. But nope, no clue.
Hopefully I'll figure it out soon.

Those MegaBus cheap rates are the real deal
I have to admit I had my doubts about the availability of those really cheap rates. Until I talked to a friend of mine and she said that she had booked several tickets to go to DC, Cleveland and Toronto. She didn't pay more than $50 for all of the trips combined, and that was for multiple people. She told me that the trick is to book as soon as you think you may be travelling before all of the seats sell out.
I need to get to booking a trip for myself soon. Since money is tight again this year, that's the only way I'll be able to get out of town for the time being. Now to figure out where to go.

They're finally getting married
I can't believe it. My two friends who have been dating forever have finally decided to get married. And they're doing it in style I might add. They were going to go to Vegas but vetoed the idea. They decided to do one of those destination weddings to the Mayan Riviera. Ohh la la. Sounds like fun to me.
The picked the El Dorado Royale Resort and it sounds like heaven. They have air conditioning and ceiling fans which is perfect for me. They also have a artificial river that I can float on and when I'm ready to have a drink they have a swim up bar. Add to that the gourmet all-inclusive meals and beach side aerobics and what more can you ask for? I'm not even the one getting married and it sounds like a blast.
I better start planning now because I wouldn't miss this for the world.

Finding readers
One of the trickiest things in blogging is finding readers. Before you worry about anything else, you have to figure out how to get readers to your blog. If you join a site like Blogger Search, you connect with other bloggers who you can convert into readers. You can also find advertisers if that's something you're interested in.

I feel bad for my old coworker
We work for the same company but he works in my old department. He had a ton of work to do since they're short-staffed. I did mention that my old department isn't replacing me yet right? No, well they're not. They're going to try to hold out until August or September.
Not only does he have a lot to do, but one project that he's working on is starting today. He had the work but he couldn't do anything with it. Now he's swamped. Maybe I'll send him a email to cheer him up.

Connect with business cards and Facebook
Facebook is doing it's best to become the next myspace. Thousands of people have already signed up for their service and are posting to their hearts content. But what about offline? How do you go about connecting with people in real life. How about with 100 FREE ooprint biz cards? Would that help? You bet it would. Shipping is not included in the offer but the cards are free.
Personalize them with your name and email address. Then hand them out to friends, coworkers, or even that cutie on the bus.

Another date night canceled
Ok this is getting old really fast. Tonight he just couldn't get out. Right now we're nothing more than friends but I don't like being put on the back burner. It's a really complicated situation that I really can't get into. I'm not happy with the situation though.
Something has to change and I mean quick.

I guess I'm not going out
I was supposed to go out to dinner with a friend of mine today. It's kind of a date but not really. It's more to "celebrate" the fact that he's moving out of town. I put celebrate in quotations because I am not happy at all about it and I damn sure don't want to celebrate.
Anyway it's snowing like crazy right now. There's already an inch or two on the ground and the snow is steadily coming down. I doubt if we go anywhere tonight.

My friend John is funny
I'm watching the
Steelers game and I just thought about something funny that John said. He's the one that's in Denver for a job interview and looking for an apartment. Anyway the Broncos played at Oakland today. He made the comment that he hadn't seen any die-hard Broncos fans. I said nobody was out because the team was away. Then he said "Yeah but, Steelers fans represent everyday. Even in the summer everybody is still rockin' their Steelers gear. The Steelers are like a religion here in Pittsburgh."
It's funny because it's true.

Giving gifts
My neighbor went out of town for the weekend. He will be moving permanently in about 3 weeks. I want to send him fruit gift baskets as his welcome home gift in his new city. There are two reasons for this. One because it's the Christmas season and they're appropriate. The second reason is just as a gift.
What's better than a gift basket? And there are special baskets that are just made for Men. I can get him a chocolate gift basket, a sweets gift basket or even a snack gift basket. The company ships FedEx so I know he will receive the basket very quickly. They also use air bags instead of those nasty popcorn package wrappers.
I know he will appreciate the gift. I wish I could give it to him now. Then I would order the chocolate lovers basket and help him eat it.

Dinner and a movie with Johnny Depp
Yeah I'm supposed to have dinner and a movie but not with Johnny Depp. But we will go see Johnny Depp in his new movie. I always loved Johnny Depp since I saw him in Edward Scissorhands. He was so vulnerable that he made me fall in love.
I've always liked his movies but Pirates of the Caribbean was one of my favorites. When he looked at Kira Knightley and shook the rum bottles while saying "Welcome to the Caribbean". Classic. I just loved that line. That movie was weird but I loved it. That's my favorite movie so far.
Now I'm excited about the new movie Sweeney Todd. I can learn more about the movie when I visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site. He's hooked up with Lance Burton who is directing him in yet another movie. These two work so well together so you just know the movie will be good.
You can also visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace to find out what the movie is about. Or I can give you a brief synopsis. Sweeney goes to jail unjustly. Getting out he vows revenge and opens a deadly barber shop. Hey, guess who else is in the movie? Sasha Baron Cohen as a rival barber. That is too funny.
I can't wait to see it. It's the last time I'll get to hang out with my friend before he leaves town. So I get to hang with my favorite friend and see one of my favorite actors. Good times man.

Losing weight
Two years ago one of my friends had lapband surgery. That's different than other weight-loss surgery options because you get a small band positioned around your stomach. The gastric band is inflatable and adjustable. This is in contrast to getting cut, stapled, or having your stomach and/or intestines rerouted.
Since her stomach was smaller, she ate less and felt full faster. It helped to lose the weight on her own. The procedure was done in a day and she wasn't in a lot of pain. Like I said, it's been two years and she's kept the weight off. I would consider that over conventional stomach stapling. That just sounds painful.

Sunday shopping
I'm really mad at my friend. Her stove stopped working last week and she wants to go look for another one today. It's football day. Is she crazy? Why didn't she want to go on Saturday. She wasn't doing anything either that made it impossible for her to go.
I told her to look on the internet and narrow down stores to shop at. She's looking at Kenmore Ranges so she can get really specific with her search results. That way we don't have to go to stores that we know won't have the products that she needs.
This better be quick and I better not miss anything good. She better be lucky she's my friend.

Where did the summer go?
I can't believe the summer is almost over. School starts tomorrow. Not only for college students but high school students as well.
I guess there is one perk to the upcoming winter weather. Winter sports of course. Football in particular. One of my coworkers is trying to convince me to try riding a Snowmobile. His family has a cabin and a lot of acreage. He goes up to the cabin with his brother and a few of their friends.
I told him I wasn't so sure. I don't know anything about snowmobiling. I can read up on it at a snowmobile forum. Heh, I'm still not convinced. Luckily, my friend and his family are patient. Which is good, because I think I'm definitely gonna work their nerves.

What are you doing Saturday night?
As for me, nothing as usual. I don't have any plans yet. It's only Tuesday so something might come up. I haven't had a date in a few weeks. I'm pretty picky about who I'll date.
Not picky as far as financially or even looks. But picky in the way they treat people. I've always been told that you can tell a lot about someone by the way they treat people that they don't need for some reason. You know, sales people or wait staff. If they're rude to them, they're probably no a nice person in general. I know that's a generalization but it's worked for me so far.
I have several friends who have tried online dating. There's one site where you can meet interacial singles. I'm sort of mixed race myself so I don't count anyone out. I say sort of because both of my parents are interracial. So interracial dating is nothing new in my family. I should also say that I don't count people out because of their race.
I try to judge the person for who they are not what they are.

My friend is still MIA
Betty is still MIA. I email her at least once a week from work. Sometimes we chit-chat all day long via email. It's really fun talking to her. I emailed her yesterday and today and I haven't heard back from her. That's unusual even though she can't talk a lot every day, she does usally give me a short answer. Especially since it was a school related question. I'll email her again tomorrow.

I'm mad at everybody
I was so tired at work today. I make my caffeine run around 10:30. Today I was ready to go at 9am, it was that bad. After I had some caffeine and was semi-woke, I started working. We were slammed because one person is on a leave and another is on vacation. But of course I still made time to talk (email) everyone.
What do you know, my first friend was in meetings all day so I couldn't talk to her. Next up is my friend that works in a doctors office. She was mia. I couldn't get her to return a message. Last hope, my neighbor who works at the same company but a different location. We emailed a few times but I was really in a chatty mood. He didn't even get my last email until 10 minutes before he went home. And I sent that one over two hours earlier.
Yeah our internal mail system sucks. Sometimes you get mail, sometimes you don't get it for hours. All I know is that I wanted to talk and nobody wanted to be my friend today. Boo to my stupid friends.

I'm going to a bachelorette party
Man, I'm nervous about this. Bachelorette parties tend to get out of control. Especially with the crowd that I'm going with. I have to go because the bride is a good friend of mine.
I'm a laid back mellow person. I don't really like crowds or loud and boisterous parties. I expect it if I go to a club or bar, but not at regular parties. Well throw all of that out of the window because bachelorette parties get crazy. Add to that the fact that my friends are a rowdy bunch anyway and you can imagine what things can happen.
It's a good thing I like to shop online. I went to an online store to buy Bachelorette Party Supplies. I bought tame stuff. I got a bride to be sash and a tiara that my friend is going to wear. I won't even describe some of the things that my friends ordered. Let's just say shaped lollipops, straws and sippy-cups. And you thought sippy-cups were just for kids. Well not these.
I'm nervous and excited about the party at the same time. I might go back to the store and express order some more stuff. Tame things, of course. I can't say the same for the things everyone else orders. Well, I might order that pinata.
