Joke of the week

Sorry it's a day late but you know what they say, better late than never.

Without further ado, this week's joke:

"The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you."-Rita Mae Brown

Randomness

1. I'm glad spring is finally here. For the past few days it's been over 60 degrees and the warm trend looks to continue.

2. I had a wicked migraine today. It was brought on by stress. I'm trying to stop letting things get to me so much.

3. I'll be glad when this blog is 3 months old. Then I can phase out my old blog and just concentrate on 2. Actively posting on multiple blogs is hard.

4. I need to read more of my friends' blogs. It's interesting to hear a different perspective on things.

5. I have a humongous extra credit project due in 3 weeks. I'll get 5 points for attempting the assignment at all. I can earn up to 20 points. I need to do well on this project, I need the points bad.

Absolutely hysterical blog

I found the funniest blog I've ever seen. I am not a hamster literally had me laughing out loud. Ed has a unique style of writing, with a quick wit and sarcasm galore. My kinda site!

If you are not a hamster, check it out. If you are a hamster, he might be smearing the good names of hamsters everywhere. Don't take my word for it, you better get over there and see for yourself.

My new friends Amy Jo and Deb

You meet the nicest people on the internet. Today I met Amy Jo and Deb.

Amy Jo has a cool blog called The Bellclapper's Garden. When I first looked at her blog the first entry on the side bar that caught my eye was Wal Mart h3ll. I had to read that entry before I read anything else because I love me some Wally World. I have to agree about the slow poke cashiers though. Amy Jo also talked about not updating her blog for two and a half weeks, but she has other stuff going on in addition to writing a book. You go girl.

Deb has a blog called Surviving NJ which is funny because that's where my family lives. So of course I headed over to check out her blog. Well, what do you know... we have the same template! Reading her blog is a blast. She's plays the same Deal or no Deal game that I play. Then she posted a story about the idiot who lost a $92,000 a year job because he used $20 worth of the county's gas. Deb called him a cheapskate, I called him an idiot. We both agree that he's not too bright. Great Jersey minds think alike.

You should really go check these ladies out. There's some great stuff on their blogs.

What the heck is wrong with those crazy Texans

I don't have anything against people from Texas. Really I don't. But first I found this article about the pot smoking kids. Now there's a even more disturbing story coming out of Houston.

Neighbors noticed a foul smell and unusual activity on the guys' balcony. He told his neighbors that he was cooking for a wedding. In reality, he dismembered his girlfriend and was burning her body on a outdoor grill. He's being held on $250 MILLION dollars bond.

Ok, now who would even think to kill and dismember a person. Then to put them on a grill?!?!? Holy moly, what a nutjob. Only in Texas.

Why I think Agloco is a crock

For those of you who may not know, Agloco is the second incarnation of All-Advantage.com. All-Advantage folded several years ago mainly, they say, due to the dot.com bust.

The premise is simple, add a viewbar to the bottom of your screen, surf the internet as you normally would and get paid. Sounds easy peasy right? Well, first off, you only get paid for the five hours. That's not even a problem. Of course you want a limit on the number of hours someone gets paid. Nerds like me spend no less than 20 hours a month on the internet. Do you really want to pay someone for all of that time? Nope.

The viewbar is a main concern. Every month it gets delayed. Now it's slated for release in early to mid April. C'mon, how hard is it to develope a viewbar? People over a Wordpress develop plug-ins in a matter of days.

I don't think the viewbar is that problem at all. I think it's the advertisers. I don't think they have enough lined up or they're not getting as much money from the sponsors as they had hoped. Agloco updates their blog but whenever you ask them an advertiser question, they totally ignore it.

Don't bother trying to make money with this company. All I think you'll end up with in the end is a bunch of spam.

I'm going on a cruise

Woohoo! I can't wait. I don't know when yet though. My uncle is shooting for August. My birthday and my moms birthday's are both in August. So he's sending us then for our present. Awesome! It will be me, my mom and my aunt. A girl's only cruise. He's trying to get us a room with a balcony.

My uncle is still in the process of booking so we don't know exactly when we're going. He's shooting for the week of August 12th. My mom doesn't know yet, it's a surprise for her. She thinks we're all going to Connecticut to gamble. She asked me about it yesterday and I played dumb.

I still haven't figured out how we're going to persuade her to get her passport without ruining the surprise. Me and my aunt have ours but mom doesn't.

Pitt vs UCLA

Should I say I told you so? Oh ok, I won't. I know some people are upset. I was actually rooting for Pitt. But alas they'll break your heart every time. I can't wait until they do climb over the hump.

And umm, what's up with that guy Oden from Ohio State? I swear he's like 29. He can not be young enough to still be in college. There was some Tom-foolery going on with that kids birth certificate.

One of my ads

My ads are crazy right now. The one says: Are you gay? hmmmm. No, but uh thanks for asking.

Joke of the week

An oldie but goody:

Prison vs. Work
In prison you spend the majority of your time in an 8' X 10' cell. At work you spend most of your time in a 6' X 8' cubicle.

In prison you get three meals a day. At work you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for that one.

In prison you get time off for good behavior. At work you get rewarded for good behavior with more work.

In prison a guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you. At work you must carry around a security card and unlock and open all the doors yourself.

In prison you can watch TV and play games. At work you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

In prison they ball-and-chain you when you go somewhere. At work you are just ball-and-chained.

In prison you get your own toilet. At work you have to share.

In prison they allow your family and friends to visit. At work you cannot even speak to your family and friends.

In prison all expenses are paid by taxpayers, with no work required. At work you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for the prisoners.

In prison you can join many programs which you can leave at any time. At work there are some programs you can never get out of.

In prison there are wardens who are often sadistic. At work we have managers.

Java help if you please

If anyone can tell me how to make javascript work on blogger I would really appreciate it. I'm trying to put up some ads. I keep getting the message "done but with errors on the page" and the ads don't show up.

They're supposed to be underlined. And have a bubble/pop-up appear. They worked for a minute, but now they're not there at all.

Sigh, the life of a blogger.

I think I'm getting sick

I sure hope not. I don't feel well at all. I've been going out for the past couple of days with my hair wet. I think I'm getting a head cold. I've been pretty congested. I had some cough drops and vitamin C drops. I want to head this thing off at the pass if I can. I plan on having a cup of tea before I go to bed. I have a couple of things to do before that. Once I drink that tea, I should feel sleepy and hopefully rest through the whole night.

Pitt vs UCLA huh

If you recall from my last post about Pitt, I said they wouldn't make it out of the sweet 16. I still feel that way. I don't think they'll beat UCLA. I know a bunch of people hope I'm wrong and can't wait until Thursday. I'll be watching the game too. I'll won't be rooting for anyone though.

As an aside, why do they call them student/athletes. These are athletes who just happen to be students. Until they can try to make the jump to the pros anyway.

I'm sick of all of the poker tournaments on tv

I guess by now, everyone should know that I'm a tv junkie. Lately some of the stuff I've been seeing has annoyed me to no end. Like poker being on tv 24/7. When poker first became mainstream, it was cool to see it on tv. You got to know the various professional players and really see what made them good poker players.

Now you can't turn on the tv without seeing poker. Every weekday after 7pm and all weekend long, you can't turn to certain stations without seeing a game. It's not even just the sports channels like ESPN2 or Fox Sports now it's on the Travel Channel as well.

I guess what really bothers me about it is that there are so many people playing you can't even root for your favorite player anymore. They show lots of the up and coming players which is cool. It just seems like more of the players are more interested in mugging for the camera than they are into playing the game. I really don't need to see someone screaming into the camera or making a comment and looking directly into the camera.

I hate to say it, but I'll be glad when this fad looses steam (and ratings) and we don't have to see it all the time on every channel.

I got jokes

Well, not right now. But as something fun, I'll be posting jokes once a week. Maybe they will be a bunch of one-line jokes or maybe a paragraph long joke. I haven't decided yet. I'm thinking of posting them on Wednesday or Thursday. I'm leaning more towards Thursday though. If you have any preference, let me know.

Family lurking

I mention in another post that I had family lurking on my site. I wish you guys would either leave a comment or send me an email. There's nothing worse than getting a call complaining about something I wrote. "Don't put family business in the street!" Whatever. If I don't know you're there, why not?

The focus of this blog

This blog is just a mish-mash of random thoughts, ideas, rants, jokes or whatever happens to strike my fancy at the time.

I started this blog because I noticed that my other blog was losing it's focus. The purpose of that blog is personal finance, but I was just posting any and everything on that blog. My personal finance posts were less than 50%. I also include my school posts as part of personal finance. The reason for that is because school influences my finances. The more education I have, the more money I have the potential to make.

I'll talk about some finance and school stuff on this blog too. But expect to see anything and everything here.

Website I support

As you can see, I've been accepted by Pghbloggers.org. This is the second blog I have on the site. The guys that run the site are really nice. There aren't a lot of websites for local bloggers unless you get a large site that is divided by city. Pghbloggers.org is just for Pittsburgh bloggers and people in the surrounding areas.

There aren't a lot of local sites like this around. So I urge people to support this site and sites like it.

Randomness

1. Pitt lost the Big East title game to Georgetown. Not suprising, Georgetown was the #1 seed. I like Pitt but they choke down the stretch.

2. Pitt did get an invite to the NCAA tourney. They're third seeded in the west region. They play Wright State on Thursday.

3. I bet they don't make it past the Sweet Sixteen.

4. I joined PghBloggers.org. I've joined under my other website and now I've joined under this one. They haven't approved my blog yet. It usually takes a couple of weeks. I hope they hurry, I need to build traffic.

5. My family is lurking on my site. Post and let me know you're here. I don't want to talk about you if you're reading.

6. I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas this year. Hopefully early summer. I have to check my school schedule because I want to go during the break between Spring and the Summer sessions.

Still ranting about UPS

Today I posted a rant and sent a letter through Planet Feedback. I really don't expect much to be done but I least I feel better now.

Pitt beat Louisville

I'm not a big basketball fan at all. But since I'm a Pitt student, I figured I would at least watch some of the game. It was pretty good. Now I guess I'm on the hook for the Georgetown game tonight.

UPS sucks rants

I'm posting my rants of UPS on all of my blogs. I want lots of people to see this.
See I hate UPS. The next post is my update to the situation.

It really is true, if you're happy with a company you tell 1 or 2 people. Let a company tick you off and you tell everyone. And blog about it to boot!

Gee thanks Sports Center

I looked up at the screen and Sports Center is showing a flagrant foul on a UNC player by a Duke Player. Ummm gross. He got hit hard as hell. His nose looks like he got punched instead of fouled. If you didn't know this was a rivalry before, you damn well know it now.

Kids getting high, Texas style!

I wrote a post on my other blog about the toddlers smoking pot in Texas. More details are coming out. The teenager were not alone in the house. The kids mom had a toothache, took a pain killer and had passed out in another room. The police executed a search warrant for the kids 18-year old unemployed uncle, looking for stolen goods, when they found the camera equipment. When they watched the tape, surprise surprise, it was Smoky and The Toddlers as the featured movie.

This story is disturbing on so many levels. Apparently the teens felt comfortable enough to smoke the pot in the house in the first place. Call me old-fashioned, a prude or whatever, but if you want to get high do it. But not in front of or around kids. Third degree felony charges have been filed against the teens. I said it before, I'll say it again. Dumb criminals.

Pistachio Fever

Two weeks ago I went to Walmart and bought some pistachios among other things. Ever since then, I can't get enough. I go to the store every chance I get and buy more. This is after I ate the whole humongous bag that I already had. I need to stop, or get more, whichever comes first.

So long Joey Porter

I can't believe the Steelers cut J. Peezy. They say it was salary cap concerns but we all know that's only part of the story. He was scheduled to get a $1 million dollar bonus and a $4 million dollar salary this year. Reports are that he wanted $2 million for his bonus and a $8 million dollar total contract. The Steelers just weren't willing to pay that.

Plus, last year, he wanted to sit out camp but reported anyway. With a little coaxing from Coach perhaps? So the Steelers didn't want new coach Mike Tomlin to have to deal with that this year. Some in management wanted to work it out, but in the end, Joey had to move on.

We'll miss you Peezy!

Two Blogs With The Same Name

I don't know what to do about this. I have a blogger blog and my own domain. They both have the same name, Sabrina's Money Madness. I use the blogger blog for ppp. I can use my own domain for that once it's 90 days old. Here's the problem, my blogger account has a pr of 1, my own domain has no pr yet. By the time my own domain is ppp ready, it may have a pr but the blogger one will still be higher.

It's important to have a high pr for ppp segmentation. I've missed some great opps because they wanted a pr or 2 or 3. It's also important for monetizing my blog. I can get more sponsors with a higher pr blog.

I'm probably more confused than ever right now.

Edit: I've changed the Sabrina's Money Madness blog on blogger to Sabrina's Place.
