I should learn how to do my own hair

I only get my hair done once or twice a year. Cost is a small factor but the time issue is a major factor. I hate sitting in the salon all day waiting for my hair to get done. When you consider the fact that I have fairly long hair and get a really easy style, I should be in and out in about an hour.

I've often thought about going somewhere like Columbia beauty school to learn how to do hair. Not only would I learn how to do hair from expert instructors, I would also get to get offer discounted salon services to my friends and family. The discount is available to the general public but of course I would invite those closest to me.

I also believe the education that I receive would benefit me and the community at large. Once I'm finished with the program and have a license, I could work in a salon or even open my own salon. It's definitely worth a second look.

School is almost done

Yeah I am so happy I could do a dance. I have 1 more class and then my final exam. I'm not doing too well in this class (I probably have a mid to low C) so I want to take my time and make sure I'm well versed on the material. The last exam I had, I wasn't as prepared as I could have been. I knew this class would be hard and I only wanted a C but I'm really too close to the cut-off point for comfort.

I just have to keep telling myself that it's almost over.

I still need to read for school

I have a book that I was supposed to start last week. I haven't even begun to read that book. This weekend I have to read 10 chapters instead of 5. It's not a problem as long as it's a good book. If it's boring I'll have a hard time getting through it.

Just another reason for me to stop procrastinating.

Looking ahead to a graduate degree

I haven't even finished my undergraduate degree and I'm seriously considering a graduate degree now. I work in accounting but we work very closely with our legal department. That was what I originally wanted to major in when I first started school. My manager and several people in the legal department have urged me to look into this path.

I need a break though so I've been considering a non-traditional path for my graduate studies. I'm looking at university online like Capella. They offer 109 graduate degrees including business and public safety. I could easily use either degree for our legal and/or trust department.

I never thought I would be this happy to stay in school.

Short story update

I haven't written in a long time because of school and just life in general. Next month is the writing challenge where you write a novel in 30 days. The bad thing for me is that it's supposed to be all one story. I tend to focus on one story but if I get a good idea for another story that I'm writing, I'll interupt and write for that one.

I guess this challenge will make me stick to a schedule. I just hope there's nothing pressing due for school next month.

Sometimes I wish I went to school online

I really don't like living where I am right now. I only have 6 months left of school but then I have to stay 2 additional months to save money. If I went to school online and got a degree online I could have moved last year. I considered a place like Capella and I don't know why I didn't just go with it. They offer over 100 majors for undergraduates and graduate programs. As well as 15 certificate programs. And I could have switched majors and studied business instead of keeping my current major just to get done.

The best part for me would be that I could live wherever I wanted to since I would be going to school online. Most jobs also offer tuition reimbursement for online schools, I know my current company offers it. It would have been a win-win situation.

If only I could go back in time.

I guess I'll keep my books

My books this semester weren't all that expensive. I paid less than $45 for 1 text and 3 novels. The school doesn't buy books back in the summer in the middle of the semester. You have to wait until the end of summer to sell them for fall. Of course, they're not using those books in the fall so I'm stuck with them.

Maybe I'll read the one book that I never did read.

Today is the day

The day I'm done with school that is. I can't wait. I'm not exactly happy about taking exams but anything to be done with this class. It's so much work that I've been going crazy. Some of my class-mates have 2 or more classes but most of them don't work either.

The best part is that my grade should be no lower than a B and I'm cool with that.

Another quiz

We have another quiz today. I did read the book that the quiz is based on but I did not write my essay questions out in advance. Once she gives us the question to answer, I'll have to make up the answer on the fly. I wanted to be able to give a few examples from the book so I'll skim through it before I get to class.

I'm still in the class

I couldn't get out of my history class. It's just so much work that it's unbelievable. When I tell everyone about it, they think I'm exaggerating. Then I show them the class syllabus and they see what I mean. I decided that I would rather just get the history requirement out of the way. There is a class that I would rather take but it's not offered in the fall. I don't want to take the chance that it's not offered in the spring either.

Hopefully these next 6 weeks will go by quickly.

Summer classes suck!

My new class sucks! I mean it really sucks. It's really bad. I have to wait until tomorrow to see if I can drop it and pick up something else. If not, then I have to take 2 classes in the fall and 2 in the spring. This class is a lot of work, which is not a problem. But it's boring as all get back. It's a history class and not one that I'm even remotely interested in.

Hopefully I can get out of it. If not, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and take it.

I need some time off

I have so much to do in the next few weeks. I have to register for the fall and for another summer class. The class I originally had is closed due to lack of enrollment. There is only one other class that I even remotely want to take. I just hope it's still open. Summer classes stink!

What do you mean I have to write a paper to graduate?

I knew you had to write a paper in order to get your Master's Degree but this is for a bachelor's. Since I'm going to school under my old program, I don't have to take a lot of the requirements that new students have to meet. For instance, I don't need a research practicum class which is a big deal in my major. My advisor and the department chair have decided that once I meet all of my requirements, they want me to write a paper in order for my graduation application to be approved.

I guess it's a good thing that I don't have to take some of those classes. But writing a paper is a nightmare for me. I can blog all day long, but writing a school paper is another matter. One of my classmates recommended a site where I can get help with my paper. They have sample research papers, term papers and book reports. It's not even about copying a paper, it's just to show you what other students have written to give you ideas with your paper. The site even discourages you copying a paper.

I can go to this site, sign up and look around to get ideas for my paper. They even make it easy to cancel the service once I'm done with school. Since I still need 4 classes and can only take 1 at a time, I have a while to use the service. If you're still in school or going back to school, sign up and get help with your papers. With over 100,000 papers on every topic, you're sure to find what you need.

School is starting tomorrow

I can't believe another semester is starting so soon. It seems like I've only been out of school for a week even though I know it's been closer to 3. I'm almost done with my degree but now my boyfriend is starting school.

He also works for a bank so any bank or business related classes will be reimbursed. He's been researching online degrees because it's more convenient than a traditional university. He also read online about a woman named Teresa Chaulk who is pursuing her doctorate from the online university Capella. She's the superintendent of schools in Wisconsin and was previously a alternative school principal.

Over 85% of the students at Capella are studying for their Masters or PHD degrees. Although Capella is based in Minnesota, you can live anywhere and become a student since it's a online university. I can't wait until both me and my boyfriend are done with school. Then we can both make a decent living.

I am so glad school is over

School was extra super sucky this semester. It was one of the hardest semesters I ever had and I was only taking 2 classes. I had macroeconomics and analytical methods (basically pre-calculus). One of the difficult aspects was that I was taking classes on 2 separate campuses. If I went somewhere like capella university, I would be able to study in the comfort of my own home. Of course I would study business because it pertains to what I do.

One of the biggest challenges to working age people is making the time to go to class. After work you just want to go home and not come back out. By attending school online, you can do just that. Go home, get comfy and take classes. And since the school is accredited your degree will be accepted everywhere.

I'm glad school is over until next month. I wish I could take my classes online next semester. It's going to be cold outside.

Registration is starting

I've been trying to register for school for the past 2 weeks. I should have gone to capella university instead of my school. It's a online school so I would have had an easier time registering for new classes. I also would be able to take the classes I really wanted to take.

It's an accredited university so my degree would mean something and it wouldn't just be a piece of paper. I could also get my Masters degree online. That would save me so much time and be super convenient.

It's not too late for me to make that move.

I won't get reimbursed for the class I'm dropping

Which sucks because I need that money to roll over to the next semester. Now I'm down almost $500 for the spring. It's getting harder and harder to find the money to pay for school. Tuition went up this semester by $30 per credit. That doesn't seem like a lot but it's almost $100 per class.

Fees also went up but I'm not sure by how much. The fees include the computer fees and student group fees. Pitt is also considering hiking the transportation fee for next year too. I may have to get another Credit Card to help cover the cost of everything. All of my school expenses are increasing and that's not even taking books into account. My books for this semester was $180 for 2 classes. I'll be lucky to get half of that back.

I know it will be worth it in the end to get my degree, but it's ridiculously expensive right now.

I'm outta that class!

My analytical methods class that is. I've stuck it out for a fourth of the semester but I just don't understand. I've been getting help and I'm still lost. Even my Math Tutors said that they thought the class was hard. The class started out with 22 students. We're down to 15 students and now 14 when I leave.

The really bad thing is that if I didn't have a tutor, I would have dropped the class after the second week. I only paid a small fee for my tutor and she was worth it. When I take the class again, I'll probably get another tutor to help out. But I'll make sure I don't take that same teacher.

I definitely need a tutor

I started school this week. I actually started the community college, which is where my math class is, this week. Pitt started 2 weeks ago. I walked into my math class and felt like the professor was speaking another language. I am definitely looking into Math Tutors. I just don't understand what he's talking about.

The teacher is trying to give us tips to simplify the information, but that just makes me more confused. We've only covered 3 sections out of the chapter so far. But each exam only covers 2 chapters because it's so much information.

I won't be getting my book for the class until Monday, so I'll probably spend Monday night just reading through the chapter. Then Tuesday I'll attempt the homework. I have a feeling this is going to be a long semester.

My book didn't come today

I ordered my math book online and upgraded shipping. I didn't read the shipping policy and the company ships ups. I wrote a rant a few months ago about the problems I have with UPS.

They attempted delivery 3 times so they will hold my book at the service center. I have to go pick it up on Monday. But I really wanted it to study this weekend. I haven't taken a math class in years so I really need to study. Now I'll have to cram all on Monday and Tuesday.
