I won't be going to a baseball game next week

Man things just keep getting worse and worse for me. First there was no real vacation planned which totally bites! I had gotten over that and I decided that I would do a mini-trip or two. Then last week I was out and I noticed that my car is not driving right at all. Did I mention that the inspection is expired so I would have to get that taken care of before I go anywhere? I also won't be able to get my car into a garage until Monday or Tuesday and I wanted to leave Monday?

That's not even the biggest reason that I'm not going though. I wanted to go to Toronto and watch a Yankees game. I was gonna shlep all the way up there Sunday, stay the night and go to the game on Monday, then shlep back Tuesday morning. It would have cost a few hundred bucks but it beats sitting at home doing nothing for a week.

Alas, it looks like I'm stuck in couchville for the week.

I missed the game

I can't believe this. They haven't shown a Yankees game on tv in almost 3 weeks. The last one they were supposed to show was rained out. A game is on right now and I slept through it. Yeah the Yanks are winning, which is usually what happens when I miss a game.

I wish we could do this season over

All of my baseball teams are sucking this year. At least the Phillies are still in the playoff race. I wish they definitely had a spot though so they could rest some of the starters. The Yankees super stink this year. They are getting some individual accolades but they won't make the playoffs. Not unless they win every game and all of the competitors lose every game. Well all know that's not likely.

I guess I have to go with the losers mantra of "There's always next year".

I'm not getting Yankees tickets

The Yankees are coming next Thursday to play that make-up game. There were tickets available but not anymore. I went on the Pirates website today and the game is completely sold out. There aren't even any standing room only seats. Oh well, at least I got to see one of their games. I'm pretty happy about that.

The Yankees are coming back

The game last week was rained out so they'll be back in Pittsburgh on July 10th for 1 make-up game. I'll probably go to the game by myself. None of my friends like the Yankees or they're crying broke. I don't get to their games often enough so I'm not going to miss the opportunity if I can help it.

Some good news for Arod

No, it's not about his contract situation. He and his wife are expecting their second baby in the spring. They already have a 2 year old daughter Natasha.

Finally some good sports news!

Yes, the Yankees are coming to Pittsburgh next season. What, this season isn't over you say. Pfft, it is for me. I don't care about any of these teams. I could root for the Red Sox out of the 4 teams. Of course the way my luck seems to be, who ever I root for loses.

Anyway, back to the Yankees. I wrote a post back in June saying that if the Yankees came here next year, I would go to the whole series. They're here June 24th-26th which is Tuesday through Thursday.

I hope I can get tickets. I have a feeling they will be really hard to get. I'm not even worried about whether or not I'll have school in the summer. Priorities, remember.

Yankees make it a series

They beat the Indians today 8-4. The Indians still lead the series 2-1 but they're playing home tomorrow night again so that's an advantage.

George Steinbrenner made the statement that if the Yankees don't win the series, Joe Torre might not be back next year. Peter Gammons made an interesting observation on Sports Center. If Joe doesn't come back, that could affect the decision of some of the players that will be free agents this year. Players like Jorge Posada.

Tomorrow's game should be interesting.

Of course I fell asleep

And missed the end of the game. I hate those 10:05pm est starts. That means the game won't end until after 1am. Some nights I can stay up, other nights I can't. Last night was one of the nights I couldn't.

Anyway, no sooner had I hit publish than the Angels got 3 runs. I went to sleep in the 10th with the score tied 6-6. The final wound up being 7-6 in favor of the Angels.

I'm kinda glad today's game isn't on tv.

I am so sleepy right now

The Yankees vs the Angels are on and I still have 2 innings to go. Right now the Yanks are leading 4-3 but the Angels are threatening. I just hope I'm up to see the end of the game.

This just friggin' figures

A-Rod hit his 500 home run today. He became the youngest player in major league history to do so. Was the game on? NO!!! Some other bs game was on. Meanwhile they've been killing us with Giants games for the last week.

I always miss the good shit.

Pirates lose again

Darn it. They lost by 6 runs. The score was 9-3. Roger Clemens made his first start of the year. He got his 349 win of his career. Any other time I would be happy that the Yankees won, but not today. C'mon Pirates, don't get swept!

Pirates vs Yankees

Boy is this a hard series for me to root for. I'm a Yankees fan but the Pirates are my local team. How do you root against the local team? The Pirates lost today, I hope it ends up being a series split.

On a much happier note, the Yankees may finally come to Pittsburgh next year. I know it seems way too early to worry about next year, but the Yankees never come here. Those are going to be hard tickets to get. I don't care, if they do come here, I'm going to every game of the series. Even if I have to take time off from work. Priorities and all ya know.

Yanks vs Sox

Every time I turn the game off, or miss a little bit of the game, A-Rod does something great. Of course today, it's a homerun in the top of the 9th. A game winning hr I should add. The Yanks won 2 out of 3 but still trail Boston by a boatload. At this point, they have a better chance of winning a wild card spot.

Roger Clemens

Has a fatigued groin?!?!?! There's so much I could say about that but I won't. Unbelievable.

I won't miss A-Rod tonight

I wrote up a whole post about this and when I went to publish it, I wondered why my categories looked weird. Duh, I posted it on the wrong blog. Anyway, Monday night A-Rod hit a home run in the bottom of the first. I missed it because I turned on the game late. I won't miss the start of tonights game.

I can see why people get tired of the Yankees

First let me say that I'm a Yankee fan. So this is not Yankee bashing. They're the lead story everywhere. C'mon, they won 1 game. Ok 2 counting Sunday. Yes, they beat Boston today. But people, they're still about 8 games behind Boston. Half of their pitchers are still healing.

This is not to say they can't come back and contend. But let's not put the cart before the horse. Stop screaming about winning the division (What?!?!?!) or even worrying about winning the wild-card. First they need to get back into the race. They really need to show us something before the pom-poms and rah-rahs start. 2 games is just the beginning. They really need to keep it going.

It looks like the Yankees will finally win a game

They've only lost 10 games in a row. Right now they're leading the Mets 6-1. Their 22 year old rookie pitcher went into the 7th. He even had a double in the game.

I bet not get too happy though. Who knows what can happen in the next two innings.

Another Yankee is hurt

Geeze, George Steinbrenner must have really angered the baseball gods this off season. Or else this is just his comeuppance for buying all of the best players. This time it's Darrell Rasner with a broken finger. He's out for up to 3 months.

Yankee haters are rejoicing. I bet some Yankee fans are ready to jump off of one of those bridges in New York. You almost hate to turn on the game because you just know it's gonna be bad news. And let's not even get started on the 10 1/2 games behind Boston. Ughhh! It has to get better. Right?!?!

Yankees signed Clemens

Roger Clemens resigned with the NY Yankees. 1 year $28 million prorated. He's going to the minors to get ready and will probably be ready to pitch in the majors by the first week of June.

Is anybody really surprised by this? The Red Sox were also wooing him, but they didn't want him to come back to the bigs until June 28th. The poor Astros weren't really in the running.

With Andy Petite going back to the Yankees, I thought it was only a matter of time before he went to the Yankees. Especially since Jeter, the teflon shortstop, was also lobbying hard for him to come back to NY.
